How is the daily rate calculated?

Under the Hong Kong Employment Ordinance, the daily rate for annual leave pay is: monthly salary × 12 ÷ 365. At the current MAW of HK$5,100, this gives HK$167.67 per day. Note that the pro-rata formula for partial months (start or end of employment) uses a different formula: salary ÷ days in that month.

How to calculate pro-rata salary

If your helper starts or finishes mid-month, pay is proportional: monthly salary ÷ total days in that month × days worked. For example, starting 12 March (31 days in March), working 20 days: HK$5,100 ÷ 31 × 20 = HK$3,290.32.
